Digital Transformation
Grants
Introduction
Kirklees and Wakefield Councils have recently secured funding from the NHS Transformation Directorate Digitising Social Care Programme to:
- Support the adoption of Digital Social Care Records (DSCR) in local CQC registered care providers - both care homes and domiciliary care.
This ‘Digital Transformation Kirklees and Wakefield’ project is being managed by Kirklees Care Association (KirCA) to best support providers through the process of applying for funding and moving from paper based to digital records.
Under the digital social care record grant, there is funding up to £7,000 for the purchase of systems and devices, set up costs, initial staff training, data input from paper records into the system and potentially minor infrastructure upgrades needed to host the new system.
Applications are now live and must be received by either Kirklees Council or Wakefield Council by 17th March 2025
Who is eligible to apply?
Any adult social care provider operating within Kirklees or Wakefield can apply for the initiative providing you meet the criteria set out below:
Digital Social Care Records (DSCR)
- You are a CQC registered Care Home or Domiciliary Care Provider.
- Currently using paper to record care activities.
- A commitment to share any learning with other care providers.

Why should I apply?
Digital transformation can dramatically improve the quality and safety of care, with improved communication via real time data being shared across your staff teams. This frees up time spent on administrative tasks and ensures that people receive the right care, at the right time, and the right people have access to the information they need.
